Brochet Standoff Resolved on Facebook
The RCMP turned to Facebook to resolve a barricaded persons incident in Manitoba’s North. Officers were called out to a home in Brochet Sunday, on a complaint of a man who’d allegedly committed an assault and was holed up in a home with the victim and a weapon. Patrol officers couldn’t talk the suspect out, so the Emergency Response team was dispatched. A woman was able to escape from the home. Phone service wasn’t available so negotiators turned to Facebook. After an all night session on the internet, the suspect surrendered. A 37-year old man from Brochet faces several charges.
