No Charges in RCMP Shooting in God's Lake
An outside police force and an out-of-province prosecutor have concluded that RCMP officers shouldn’t face charges in a fatal shooting this past spring. The Saskatoon Police Service looked into the shooting of 52-year old Paul Leonard Duck at a fire scene on the God's Lake First Nation. They then forwarded their conclusions to a Crown Prosecutor in Ontario. Between the two, they decided there is no evidence to support a criminal charge. A coroner’s inquest is expected to be held. In the early morning hours March 15th, 2011, Duck approached the officers carrying a gun. Duck was shot twice and died at the nursing station in God’s Lake.
