Bad weather leads to fatal crash on Highway 30

Rough winter weather has closed several highways across the south of the province and the RCMP believe the blowing snow might have contributed to a fatal traffic crash.

Mounties from Carman were called out to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 just after 5:30 yesterday evening.

They found a northbound grain truck that had two trailers that had hit a pickup travelling in the opposite direction.

The 62 year old man behind the wheel of the pickup was declared dead at the scene and his 50 year old female passenger was taken to hospital in Altona.

Names of those are not being released.

An RCMP traffic analyst is continuing the investigation and at this time, alcohol is not considered to be a factor.
