Crash near South Beach Casino puts 2 in hospital

A truck running a red light at the turnoff to the South Beach Casino resulted in a crash that sent two people to hospital.

Selkirk RCMP say three vehicles were involved in the collision early yesterday afternoon on Highway 59.

It’s believed the man behind the wheel of a southbound pickup truck didn’t hit the brakes as he came up to the intersection and smashed his truck into a car travelling the same direction.

The car was hit hard enough that it struck a van that was also heading south at the time.

Paramedics took the driver of the car to hospital in stable condition, the man in the truck needed treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The Mounties are continuing their investigation but say alcohol is not considered to be a factor.
