Drugs, weapons seized in Brandon traffic stop program

A crackdown on traffic offences in Brandon has led police in that city to also get dangerous weapons and drugs off the street.

Among the cars pulled over yesterday by the police was one in which they found a collapsible baton, a stun gun and some marijuana.

Two men in the car at the time were both arrested and face a variety of criminal charges.

Brandon police have been ticketing for a variety of traffic offences all week long.  As of this morning, they had written 57 tickets, 20 of which were for drivers using a cellphone while behind the wheel.
