Man dead after boat flips on Lake Manitoba

A 71 year old man is dead after his boat capsized on Lake Manitoba.

Lundar RCMP say he and his son were dunked into the water near Twin Lakes Beach back on Friday night.

The son was able to make the 250 yard swim to shore and call for help.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found the older man unresponsive.  They started CPR but he was pronounced dead when taken to a nearby hospital.

Police say that neither the son nor his father wore life jackets when their boat flipped.  They also say they won’t be releasing the name of the deceased, but have identified as him as being from the R.M. of St. Laurent.
