Quarterly provincial financial report shows shrinking deficit

There’s some positive news from the provincial finance minister.

Jennifer Howard says Manitoba’s third quarter financial report indicates the province has trimmed $86 million from the previously projected deficit for this year.

This brings the projected deficit down to $432 million.  Howard says this leaves the government on track and even ahead in their efforts to fulfill a promise to eliminate the deficit in 2016-17.

Howard also said the provincial budget will be delivered March 6 as the legislature resumes sitting.
