Support Manitoba’s Motorcycle Ride for Dad on their journey to raise funds for prostate cancer research and education. The Manitoba ride takes place on Saturday, May 25th, 2013 at Polo Park Shopping Centre. The goal is to surpass the amount raised last year, which was $120,000.
The ride will proceed from Polo Park Shopping Centre to Portage Ave. heading to the Perimeter Hwy and Red River Exhibition Park and then on to Selkirk, Gimli and back. There will be a lunch in Gimli and an awards reception at Cowboys. This year's celebrity riders are Doug Brown, former all-star defensive tackle for the Winnipeg Blue Bomber, Shelly Glover, MP for St.Boniface and Charlie Huddy, Assistant Coach for the Winnipeg Jets and former NHL Player.
And remember, all funds raised in Manitoba stay in Manitoba.

The Manito Ahbee Festival is moving to August! The week long event will bring thousands of First Nations dancers, performers and musicians from across the world to Winnipeg! The celebration will take pace August 16-21, 2013. They’re moving from their regular November date to the sunny month of August.
The festival will host the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, Indigenous Marketplace and Trade Show and International Competition Pow Wow at the MTS Centre. This year under the August sun they’re offering outdoor events at The Forks’ Oodena Circle and a Cultural Camp for youth.
Due to the new date of the festival, there are new timelines. Submissions are now open for the Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards.

Many people don’t know
that they have kidney disease until the kidneys are really sick and they end up
needing dialysis to stay alive.
Get tested and catch
kidney disease early, treatment is available.
Over the next two years
testing for Kidney disease will be happening in the Island Lake and West Region
Tribal Council areas for anyone 10 years of age and over. Testing starts
this March (2013.)
Testing only takes about
30 minutes. Look for posters in your community to find out when and where
to meet the kidney screening team or visit www.diabetesintegrationproject.ca. Checking your kidneys could save your life. Funding
for this initiative is provided by Health Canada.
Last two weeks of screening takes place at Keeseekoowenin, May 27th to 31st and June 3rd to 7th. Call 1-855-333-9320 for details.
