80+ year old film from Norway House
The Government of Manitoba has posted a digitized version of some film from Norway House in 1932 to 1938.
The video’s description on YouTube says it contains images of “an airplane taking off; children in the vegetable garden; children on swings; a soccer game; running races; dog sleds…” and much more.
The footage comes from the archives of the Hudson’s Bay Company.
It was one of several videos posted today to the government’s YouTube channel that has otherwise been dominated in recent months by raw footage from COVID-19 media conferences.
Among the the other videos uploaded today is one with a focus on the Winnipeg fashion industry c. 1958, an hour and 20 minutes of footage shot in and around Churchill from 1931-33 and The Voyage of the Nonsuch from 1968.
