A PENGUINS LOVE

 In NCI News

At this time of year, love is not only in the air, but also in the zoo. A pair of penguins kept at a San Francisco aquarium have carried on what has become a Valentine’s Day tradition. Biologists handed out red felt hearts to the African penguins kept at the California Academy of Sciences. The birds took the hearts in their beaks and waddled around their enclosure toward their nests. A rep for the aquarium says the male penguin often takes the heart to its mate. It’s practical and sentimental. Aquarium officials say the penguins use the felt to help build their nests.
