All the words in the world are made up!
At some point in time, people got together to decide on what sound meant what.
Say any word enough and it starts to sound weird; almost as if it loses meaning and becomes gibberish like.
Words are all made up, but who decides whats official and whats not?
Turns out a word is added to the dictionary only when a word is used by multiple people who all agree it means the same thing.
It also must be used in articles and in general conversation.
Only than it’s recognized and added to the English Dictionary.
Last year in 2018, The Oxford English Dictionary added 1,100 words which included:
- Hangry – bad-tempered or irritable as a result of hunger
- Tomoz – Meaning “tomorrow”
This year however is seeing some even more peculiar words added, which include:
- Dof – Stupid or uninformed
- Bigsie – Having an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance; arrogant, pretentious, conceited
