APTN’s Jean Larose thrilled with Cree NHL Broadcast

I had the chance to speak with APTN CEO Jean Larose today on-air and I asked him about the success of APTN’s NHL broadcast entirely in Cree this past weekend.

Jean mentioned that he would love to have APTN do a weekly NHL broadcast entirely in Indigenous languages but it depended on the cost of things from the NHL to produce a weekly broadcast. Other things that were discussed was Jean’s overwhelming happiness with Clarence Iron’s Play By Play during the game, the possibility of other languages getting the opportunity to experience NHL broadcasting and expanding the booth with the addition of a possible color commentator!

What a thrill a weekly national Indigenous language broadcast would be! Congratulations to everyone involved!
