Fire Keepers Indigenous Song Circle Tour Inspires Youth Through Music
The Fire Keepers Indigenous Song Circle tour is hitting the road, bringing music, stories, and mentorship to Indigenous communities.
Featuring a talented lineup of Indigenous artists, including Metis singer-songwriter Troy Kokol, Manitoba’s Ila Barker, and hip-hop artist Sly Da Supastar, the tour isn’t just about performing, it’s about inspiring young people and helping communities build music programs that last.
With support from Long & McQuade, the tour is leaving behind ukuleles and offering music leaders memberships to the Songwriters Association of Canada, giving them access to resources and workshops even after the tour moves on. Kokol knows firsthand how powerful music can be, he found his own voice through it and hopes to help youth do the same.
The tour runs from April 7 to April 10, stopping in O’Hanly, Fort Alexander, Ginew, and Scanterbury. It’s all about creating space for young people to express themselves, share their stories, and build a creative future in their communities.
