Got An Old Hardcover Harry Potter Book? It Could Be Worth Some Serious Cash

 In NCI News

If you are a Harry Potter fan and have been collecting the books since the beginning, dig them up to see if you have a little goldmine hanging around your house.

A UK-based auctioneering house has recently been selling first-edition Harry Potter books for a CRAZY amount of money!  Some of the novels are going for over CA$100,000, according to Hansens Auctioneers.

According to AbeBooks, there’s a relatively simple way to tell if your Harry Potter books were one of the first printed back in 1997.

So before you make plans on how you’re about to spend your newly found money, here’s what to look for:

1) Turn to page 53. The sentence that lists the items Harry Potter needs to bring with him to Hogwarts, ‘1 wand’ should appear twice.

2) At the bottom of the copyright page in the book, find a print line that reads ‘1 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1’.

3) Make sure your edition credits ‘Joanne Rowling’ as the author, rather than JK Rowling on the title page.

CHA CHING!!!! You could be laughing all the way to the bank!

Check your books and as soon as this code red is lifted, head to your nearest thrift store.  You never know what gem you might find there.
