HEART & STROKE
– Heart & Stroke’s awareness campaign is aimed at helping people recognize
the signs of stroke and act FAST. FAST is an easy way to remember the most
common signs of stroke.
– FAST stands for Face – is it drooping? Arms – can you raise both? Speech –
is it slurred or jumbled? And Time – to call 9-1-1 or your local emergency
number right away.
– Do not drive to the hospital. An ambulance will get you to the best
hospital for stroke care. Stroke is a medical emergency, even during a
pandemic.
– Recognizing the signs of stroke and acting quickly can mean the difference
between life and death, or the difference between a full recovery and a
lasting disability.
