It’s cold. Stupidly Cold. Stay inside, bundle up and watch TV

 In NCI News

It is going to be cold for the next few days, stupidly cold, so let’s watch some TV.  Free TV, because free is that’s the best price.  For the blankets you’ll have to source your own, sadly those can’t be downloaded.  YET.

Netflix\Amazon Prime Video\Tubi\Popcorn Flix

Streaming services, paid or otherwise, are great.  In fact they are made for binge watching stuff on a cold day.

With Season 3 of Stranger Things coming this summer, now is as good a time as any for a rewatch on Netflix (subscription necessary, 30 day free trial available) to remind yourself of what you’ve forgotten of the upside down.

Check out The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime Video (subscription necessary, 30 day free trial available) – it’s winning awards left and right and deserves all of them.

Tubi (free, with ads) has a gem called Don’t Tell The Bride from across the pond.  The premise is that grooms have three weeks and 12,000 GBP to plan a wedding but they can’t ask the bride’s opinion on anything.

Over on Popcorn Flix (free, with ads) they have all 86 episodes of a childhood favourite of mine, Inspector Gadget.  We all know that Penny and Brain the Dog do all the heavy lifting, but that doesn’t make me want a helicopter in my hat any less.

The Beverly Hillbillies

Thanks to an error in some paperwork a few decades ago, the first season and a half of The Beverly Hillbillies exists in the public domain.  The upside is that means those classic episodes are easily found for free watching.

It also gives you a chance to see the unaired pilot.  It doesn’t tell you anything the song doesn’t, but it is interesting to note that the original name of the program is The Hillbillies of Beverly Hills.

The Red Green Show / The New Red Green Show

Steve Smith, the creator and actor who plays Red Green has kindly provided all of the episodes of this Canadian classic on Youtube.  That’s 300 episodes to revisit Possum Lodge and learn some new uses for duct tape.  There is no better a way to spend this Winter of our Discount Tent than that.

Remember, I’m pulling for you.  We’re all in this together.
