Manitoba’s July jobless rate lowest in Canada
Manitoba’s unemployment rate is the lowest across Canada.
Statistics Canada’s latest Labour Force Survey shows an 8.2% unemployment rate for July. That is a decrease of 1.9 percentage points since June.
The national average is 10.9%, which is down from 12.3% in June.
While encouraging compared to previous months, the numbers are still far off from pre-pandemic levels.
Compared to July of 2019, there were 20,700 fewer people working.
The vast bulk of those are made up in the desirable full-time employment category, with a decrease there of 17,500 jobs.
