RCMP Detachments across Manitoba to receive Eagle feathers.

 In NCI News

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba announced this week, that all of the eighty eight detachments across the province of Manitoba would receive an eagle feather.

The eagle feathers are meant as a sign of reconciliation and to be used as an option for swearing oaths. Previously all oaths required a bible or an affirmation to complete the process.

The announcement came after a ceremony in which they blessed and cleansed all of the individual feathers.

The feathers were harvested from two eagles and gifted to the RCMP by the wildlife branch of the province’s Sustainable Development department.
