The Day After The AEW Press Conference

 In NCI News

It’s been over 24 hours since the announcement of All Elite Wrestling, a brand new professional wrestling organization financially backed by Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan & son Tony Khan. Lots of buzz around the live press conference that was streamed on YouTube to over 100,000 viewers, live from TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. Man, lots of people were real excited about the alternative to a WWE product, the faces of the new organization appear to be Cody Rhodes, son of the legendary Dusty Rhodes, & the Young Bucks, a tag team that has had an incredible non-WWE career. Other names that have signed with AEW include PAC, the former Neville in the WWE and Manitoba’s Chris Jericho, who showed up unannounced at the press conference as it was seemingly coming to a close.

This roster looks to be stacked beyond anyone’s initial expectations, leading to what could be an incredible card at AEW’s Double or Nothing Pay Per View event announced for May at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The MGM Grand is famous for so many boxing, MMA & pro wrestling cards, this one will definitely be no different as the 17,000+ seat arena will welcome the PPV event AND Starrcast 2, a fan convention during the weekend of the event.

Kenny Omega, another Manitoban and the biggest free agent in wrestling when his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling ends on January 31st looks to be the next star on AEW’s radar. Omega has been heavily rumored to sign with the WWE but the route that many expect him to go is to join the ranks with the Young Bucks & Cody Rhodes.

So much to unpack that I will cover as news breaks and exciting announcements are made.
