Upcoming Kenny Omega Documentary on TSN Announced
A brand new documentary was announced today that will air on TSN March 27th, about Winnipeg’s Kenny Omega, the world’s biggest pro wrestling star outside of the WWE.
As a former pro wrestler, I got to be friends with Kenny, not best friends, but close enough that we’d hang out at the shows we were on together, hung out a few times away from the business. I’m not trying to be one that latches on to his success as I haven’t talked with him in at least 8-9 years. When I started in wrestling business at the end of 2002, Kenny had started a few years earlier and was already making waves as the “next” guy to make it when I regularly start wrestling after I graduated high school in 2005. When he was originally signed to the WWE in 2005 and released in 2006, he came back to Winnipeg and contemplated quitting wrestling for good and trying something else. It was a match in Winnipeg with future WWE Champion AJ Styles, (which I watched from behind the curtain and was INCREDIBLE,) that really set his sail back on the wrestling route. It is now 13 years after that and Kenny Omega is the biggest wrestling star in wrestling, he recently main evented the Wrestle Kingdom 13 card in Tokyo before 40,000+ fans, was ranked #1 pro wrestler on Earth in the Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s PWI 500 list and come January 31st will be the hottest free agent on the market. Will he sign with WWE, will he sign with All Elite Wrestling? Who’s to say, I am very excited to see the journey as told by he and many others in the TSN documentary, Wednesday, March 27th at 6:30. I’m just proud I got to see it while he was on the come-up. Congratulations to Kenny Omega.
