If you think about it,  all words are made up

Now think about chop sticks

Humanity could’ve just as easy named it something else like they did with other words.

With that in mind

Us English speaking people still call them chop sticks. This despite not doing anything remotely to chopping.

They can grab, pick up,  grasp, stab, poke, but not chop.

Question everything yo!
